The company, therefore, strives to keep providing reliable and top-class quality and expertise service, as customer satisfaction is the driven force of their every project.

One of their most impressive projects are the luxurious “Sunset Villas”, located in the beautiful village of KissonergaPaphos.  The project comprises spacious bungalows and 2storey villas of 3-4 bedrooms with a contemporary and stylish architectural design, built in large plots, with the option of having a roof garden and a swimming pool. Notably, they are specifically designed with energy efficient house features. These unique properties have amazing, unobstructed view of the sea, even from the ground floor, so you can relish moments of pure comfort and relaxation in your own property, admiring the idyllic view and tranquil surroundings.

Cyprus has the perfect climate for excursions while the island is worth exploring. Undoubtedly, Paphos includes some of the most interesting places to visit and activities to engage in. Since, according to Greek mythology, Aphrodite was born in Paphos, it is the perfect place for archeology enthusiasts. You should definitely visit the awe-inspiring St Paul’s Pillars, built in 45 AD, which forms one of the most important pilgrimage sites of the island. There, you can stroll around while admiring the impressive ruins and mosaics and learning about the island’s past civilizations. For a journey back to time, the Paphos Archaeological Museum includes artefacts and sculptures dating from the Neolithic Age to 1700 AD, covering about 10000 years of history. What’s more, Paphos is rich in charming churches and remote monasteries, such as the impressive 12th century Chrysorrogiatissa Monastery, in the foothills of the Troodos Mountains. The monastery also contains a museum with Byzantine and hagiographical art. You can combine your visit to the monastery with a hike at one of the many scenic nature trails of Troodos Mountains or, during winter, you can even go skiing or snowboarding.

Overall, the list of things to do in Paphos is endless: dine in the finest restaurants, try the best Cyprus meze at one of the many traditional tavernas, visit exquisite local wineries to enjoy the varieties produced by the native Xynistery grape. If you prefer beer to wine, there is an excellent craft pub and microbrewery with a wide choice of authentic artisan ales right outside Paphos, where you can pair your meal with hand-crafted beer.  Alternatively, you can spend a whole day with your kids at the Aphrodite water park, featuring 17 thrilling rides and exciting attractions for kids and, why not, adults too! Most kids, love animals and Paphos has the largest zoo in the island that offers fascinating encounters with monkeys, giraffes, tigers, white lions, kangaroos, more than 200 bird species, and many more. Admittedly, there are some days when our energy levels are a bit down; during such days, simply relax under the warm sun or the shade of an umbrella at one of Paphos’ azure water beaches. An excellent choice is the golden sand Lara beach, in Akamas area, where you may get the chance to see rare loggerhead and green turtles.

Conveniently, you can visit all these places very easily from the Sunset Villas. The properties are within walking distance of all amenities, including bus stopsrestaurantspubsbeach bars, and 5-star hotels. What’s more, Paphos Marina is only 1 km away. If you would live in a stunning house in a remarkable location, you won’t find a more impressive and comfortable property than Sunset Villa.  After all, what more can you ask than enjoying breathtaking sunsets in the comfort of your own home, on a daily basis?

5 activities to do in Cyprus during Spring

Cyprus is the ideal destination for holidays. The weather, is optimal for excursions, explorations, and relaxation.

Cyprus is the ideal destination for holidays. It is also the best place either to relocate or for working remotely. The island has comfortable temperatures almost all year round due to its fantastic Mediterranean climate that involves mild and warm winters with long and dry summers. The weather, therefore, is optimal for excursionsexplorations, and relaxation. Paphos, located along the south-western cost of Cyprus, is undoubtedly one of the best places to visit or live in for an array of reasons: from the most amazing beaches and significant archaeological sites, to traditional and modern wineries and quaint charming villages. These are supplemented by the most wonderful nature trails for admiring the unique Cyprus fauna and flora over stunning and breathtaking views. The city itself, especially the old part of the town, is quite interesting to stroll around, enjoy some coffee or have a delicious meal at one of the many cafes, bars, and restaurants.

Cyprus is known as the birthplace of Aphrodite, the ancient Greek goddess of Love and Beauty, hence, it is often referred to as Aphrodite’s island. Due to this, there are many monuments dedicated to the goddess, which are definitely worth visiting. One of the most noteworthy archeological sites is the Temple of Aphrodite, in Kouklia, which includes impressive mosaics of outstanding quality such as the ones of Leda and the Swan. For nature lovers, the Stavros tis Psokas, is the best place to see Cyprus’ largest endemic mammal, the endangered mouflon, also known as Agrino or Cyprus Mountain Goat, which is a wild sheep that originates from Corsica and Sardinia. Currently, there are only 3000 mouflons in Cyprus and are usually seen on cliffs which they enjoy climbing.  What is particularly interesting with regard to this species is its horns that have the shape of sickles and are approximately 60 cm long.

The Akamas Peninsula National Park is a must-visit-destination with the most scenic and picturesque routes of the island along with impressive view of the turquoise waters and green landscape. The area has a coverage of 230 square kilometres and there you can orchestrate many different activities. The Blue Lagoon has the most impressive crystal-clear waters while the best way to visit it is by boat that can be easily rented at Latchi Harbour, in Polis Chrysochou, at the entrance of Akamas. Don’t forget your snorkeling gear as the sea caves and underwater environment is definitely worth exploring. If you are looking for a golden sandy beach, Lara Beach is the ideal location with some of the clearest and cleanest waters in the island. You might get the chance to see the endangered Green and Hawk’s Bill turtles which tend to lay their eggs there. What’s more, for avid hikers, Akamas has the most impressive nature trails that offer breathtaking scenery, unspoilt views, and noteworthy ecology, such as the Adonis trail, the Agiasma trail, the Aprodite trail, and the Smigies trail.

On the edge of the Akamas Peninsula, there’s a lovely small grotto, the Baths of Aphrodite, which is of great mythological significance, as, according to Greek mythology, it’s the place where the goddess Aphrodite met her lover Adonis. Unfortunately, swimming is not allowed but the waters are supposed to have great rejuvenating effects.  Nonetheless, you can relax in the tranquil atmosphere and pristine surroundings of this pretty cave. If you are looking for a more adventurous hike, then, the impressive Avakas Gorge should be included in your bucket list.  Although the hike is not very long, just 2.5 km, it is truly memorable due to the stunning natural rock formation of the gorge, created by a stream running through limestone. What’s more, you can enjoy the Cypriot flora and fauna, such as beautiful endemic flowers, rare plants, reptiles and, if you are lucky, an agrino!

Cyprus is famous for its rich wine history which goes long back in time, approximately 6,000 years. Cyprus takes pride in its exquisite local wine varieties while Paphos includes some the most well-known wineries of the island. Most wineries also include their own restaurant or traditional taverna at their premises so that your culinary experience is complete! Paphos region produces some of the most elegant wines of the island with white wines that have the taste and aromas of peaches, green apples, and apricots and, for red wine lovers, an amazing Maratheftiko, from some of the best Cyprus native grapes. Your wine tasting can be combined with a visit to some lovely little wine-villages such as IneiaPano Arodes, and Kathikas. No matter where you decide to go, the captivating and serene countryside will not leave you disappointed.

Alternatively, you can simply stroll around the Old Town of Paphos, which has an amazing market where local villagers sell their homegrown produce that include bananas, avocados, aromatic herbs. When in the old town, you can also visit one of the many museumshistoric and religious monuments as well as traditional shops that sell high quality products including leather shoes, jewelry and local artwork. For relaxing, there are numerous cafes and restaurants where you can try both local and international cuisine. Of course, in the evening, the city turns its lights on so be prepared for a vibrant night out in some of the island’s most impressive and unique bars.

You’ll definitely adore what Cyprus has to offer, particularly the Paphos area which combines adventurous activities with laid back and relaxing moments. However, the property you choose is also of vital importance for your lifestyle. Whether you are looking for the perfect holiday home or a permanent residenceDomenica Group has a reputation for expertise in providing high quality and luxury developments. Located in the village of Kouklia, Palepaphos is an archaeologist’s dream. Read our article and learn more about this outstanding ancient town.

Paphos is a wonderful location for a holiday. You’ll find plenty to see and do, and of course you’ll want to spend lots of time on those stunning blue flag beaches with the golden sand and crystal-clear waters, but do remember to take time out to explore further afield. Cyprus has so much to offer, and one amazing, awe-inspiring destination to head for, is Palepaphos, a breath-taking UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located in the village of Kouklia, just 16km from Paphos, this ancient town is an archaeologist’s dream. If you have an interest in history, you’ll find this vast site incredibly intriguing. The site has links to the Great Goddess cult, an ancient and mysterious cult worshiping the goddess of fertility, dating back to the Neolithic Period.

There is so much to see and explore at Palepaphos, some of the highlights include…

– The Sanctuary of Aphrodite

One of the most important sites linked to the goddess Aphrodite, this sanctuary has been referenced throughout ancient literature. The site consists of two sanctuaries, one dating back to the Bronze Age, the other to around the 1st or 2nd century A.D.

– The Northeast Gate

An imposing structure in the main city wall, the gate dates to the 8th century B.C. and played a part in the Persian siege of the city in 498 B.C.

– The city wall and the Palace of Hadji Abdulla

Take a ten-minute stroll from the Northeast Gate and you will discover the remains of the city wall, and a palace from the 6th century B.C., thought to be the home of Palepaphos, the governor of Persia.

– The House of Leda

A visit to the site of the House of Leda is a must, the central dining room has a well-preserved 2nd century A.D. mosaic floor depicting some stunning scenes from mythology of Leda and the Swan.

– The Church of Panagia Katholiki

This well-preserved church is certainly worth taking a closer look at, as inside, the walls are decorated with traditional 15th century artwork.

istock

– The sugar-cane refinery

Processing sugar cane was an important industry in Palepaphos. The sugar mill and refineries in the coastal plain of Kouklia are well preserved and certainly worth seeing.

– The Lusignian Manor House

Built in the 13th century, then added to over the centuries, this administrative centre includes a Gothic Hall that many say is one of the most impressive examples of Frankish profane architecture on the island. This building also houses an interesting museum of archaeology.

– Cemeteries

There are several cemeteries within the area, which have yielded many finds of great archaeological interest. Visit the museum in the Lusignian Manor House to view these treasures from the tombs.

Celebrating Christmas in Cyprus: Customs and Traditions

If you’re visiting Cyprus over the Christmas festivities then you’re in for a real treat. Learn more!

Christmas in Cyprus is a wonderful time that everyone truly embraces. There are many traditions related to the festive season that live on to this day, with some tasty treats, fun things to do, and a sprinkle of magic! If you’re visiting Cyprus over the Christmas festivities then you’re in for a real treat. Be sure to join in with some of the traditional Cypriot festive customs

See if you get lucky with a slice of Vasilopitta

Vasilopitta is a cake with a hidden secret. Not only is it delicious, but hidden within the cake is a coin. If you’re the lucky person to find the coin in your slice of cake, it is said that for the whole of the next year you’ll experience good luck! But even if you don’t find the coin, you’re still lucky as you get to eat a slice of one of the most tasty cakes in Cyprus.

Sing along with Kalanda

Kalanda are ancient Christmas songs dating back to ancient Byzantine times. In Cyprus children will go from house to house singing kalanda in return for gifts of sweets or money. You’ll also find groups singing kalanda in the towns and villages, so be sure to take time to enjoy their renditions, or even join in.

Enjoy delicious Kourabiedes and Melomakarona

It’s just not Christmas in Cyprus without these two divine sweet treats. Melomakarona are festive biscuits that are soaked in honey making them wonderfully gooey and sweet and kourabiedes are a type of shortbread biscuit, often flavoured with rose water, with a layer of caramelised icing sugar on top.

Dealing with Kalikantzari

Some Christmas traditions are a little more troublesome than others, and so here’s your word of warning. When you spend Christmas in Cyprus you need to keep a good eye out for Kalikantzari, the very naughty Christmas goblin. As soon as you turn your back, he may be up to no good causing trouble in your home! The only way to ensure he doesn’t wreak havoc in your house is to bake a batch of Kserotiana cakes and throw them on your roof. Once Kalikanzari has had his fill, he’ll be off to cause trouble somewhere else.

Take a magical walk in the Troodos mountains

Head up to the snow-capped peaks of the Troodos mountains and you’re instantly transported to a magical winter wonderland. Who says a summer sun holiday destination can’t be a wondrous snowy Christmas location too? Certainly not us! The local villages in the area are also beautiful at this time of year, so take your time to explore and discover some of the less touristic parts of this fascinating country.

Have a wonderful Christmas time

Whatever your Christmas plans are, we hope you have a fantastic time this holiday season.

Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
